The Magmatic Petrology and Volcanology group, led by Prof. Olivier Bachmann, focuses on the characterisation of various aspects of volcanic processes and eruptive dynamics, in order to better predict volcanic activity.

Our research focuses on better understanding causes and consequences of large volcanic eruptions and the processes in related magma reservoirs. We use an integrated approach to decipher the eruptive dynamics of volcanoes and the evolution of magmas.
